How does Anke work with you?

I want to get married. What do I need to know?

In New Zealand you can either have a civil ceremony held by a Registrar of Marriages in a Registry Office or a ceremony held by an appointed celebrant (including ministers of religion) at any other place. Anke provides the latter.
To get married in NZ, you must hold a valid marriage licence.

Before you apply for the licence you must:

Arrange for a celebrant or registrar to do the ceremony and 2 (or more) witnesses.
Book a venue (think of alternative venues in case of bad weather etc)!

Please note that to apply for a marriage licence, one of you must:

•  Complete a “Notice of Intended Marriage” and go to an office of a Registrar of Marriages, to sign the statutory declaration before a Registrar of Marriages, stating you are legally free to marry. You will receive two copies of “Particulars of Marriage”( which you need to give to your celebrant to be signed at the solemnisation).
•  Pay the fee for the licence.

Upon approval the licence usually takes a minimum of three calendar days after submittal and is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

For further information (including foreigners visiting New Zealand and wanting to get married here) and forms for downloading go to the website Births, Deaths & Marriages: www.bdm.govt.nz

What kind of ceremony does Anke perform?

All ceremonies as listed on her home page will be generally non-religious, but may be spiritually influenced if so desired. Anke is Christian in her upbringing, but embraces and respects all major religions. Anke is licensed to perform weddings, but not Civil Unions. As a native German speaker, she would also be able to perform ceremonies in German. She also speaks French.

How does Anke work with us?

For weddings:  a minimum of two personal meetings or telephone interviews / discussions (usually at Anke’s home in Pauanui unless otherwise agreed) ensure that YOUR wishes and ideas for your personalized ceremony are defined and worked around.

A first draft will be discussed and re-shaped where necessary, re-discussed and a final outline typed out, a copy of which will be available after the ceremony if requested.

This preparation, personal meetings, telephone or e-mail discussions and drafts, one on site rehearsal and the final ceremony carry a flat rate of $ 450.-. An hourly rate is also available, but usually proves to be the more expensive option.  Additional travel and time cost will be charged if the meeting place or the ceremony venue is more than a 30 minute drive for Anke. Please note that unless you have confirmed your booking with a non-refundable deposit of $ 200.00, booking enquiries for weddings closer to Pauanui will take priority if your venue is further away than 30 minutes drive.  Please enquire personally about other ceremonies and funerals.
